We are now well within the Hurricane season with realitively little activity in the Atlantic so far. Forecasters are still predicting a normal season; however, there is no tropical activity that has been reported. The next two months will be crucial for our area as historically this is the time the activity intensifies. The Gulf waters are very warm and could intensify and storm action. We as a City are working very hard to be as prepared as we can for any storm. Our Emergency management Committee will be meeting on August 19th to finalize the actions we need to take. The County Club has alow the City to designate the Library in the County Club Ball Room as the City Emergency Operations Center (EOC). We have recurited some volunteers, (not enough though), to man the EOC. All our volunteers, and the elected officials of the City have been workin at completing the required training to be as trained and ready as we can be. All help will be greatly appreciated. Our plan is posted on this web site.
