The Emergency Management Committee met on June 18th at the Simonton City Hall to review and approve the City of Weston Lakes Emergency Management Implementation Plan in advance of the current Hurricane season. The members of the committee include myself, Marshal Ron Horowitz, Country Club Manager Steve Reichardt, MUD 81 Pesident Bill Dubois, POA President Jack Marshall who could not be present, and ESD #4 Commissioner Jim Minton.  Appointed volunteers Linda Harnist, Ed Peters, Pat Harris, and Chris Dinkler are key members of the Committee.  Only Linda Harnist was available for the meeting.  The Committee approved the plan for presentation to the City Council on June 23rd.  Individual training requirements for elected officials, committee members and volunteers were reviewed and agreed to.  A training table top excercise was scheduled for August to establish and test the planned Emergency Operations Center organization and layout.  The EOC will be sited in the Country Club Library.  Our most difficult challenge now is recruiting volunteers to man the EOC and assist the Committee in an actual emergency situation.  If interested please call me at (281) 533-9458.
