Election Information

The General Election Date is November 2, 2010

 

On November 2, 2010, the City of Weston Lakes will go to the polls to elect the positions of three (3) Council Members for a two (2) year term and a Marshal for a one (1) year term.

 

If you wish to run for these positions, you can pick up a “Candidate Packet” with an application for a place on the ballot at the Weston Lakes City offices in Simonton City Hall during regular office hours (Monday-Wednesday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.) beginning July 25, 2010. Applications must be filed with the City Secretary by 5 p.m. on August 24, 2010. Write-in candidates may declare between July 25, 2010 and August 30, 2010. (In order to be a write-in candidate one must have registered in the same way as regular candidates with the exception of paying a filing fee and having extra days to file the paperwork. The name must appear on the official ballot.)

 

To be eligible for municipal office, a candidate must be a US citizen, 18 years of age or older, have not been found mentally incompetent or convicted of a felony and have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the city for 6 months preceding the deadline for filing.

 

Please be sure you are registered at you present address in order to vote in this election. The last day to register to vote in time for the municipal election is October 4, 2010. Voter registration cards can be picked up in the City Offices at Simonton City Hall.

 


The following is the time line schedule for the conduct of the election:

  • July 25, 2010, First day to file for place on General Election Ballot
  • August 24, 2010, Last Day to Order the General Election
  • August 24, 2010, Last Day to file for Place on General Election Ballot
  • September 3, 2010, First Day to file for Ballot by Mail
  • October 4, 2010 (Moves to next business day), Last Day to Register to Vote
  • October 18, 2010, First Day of Early Voting
  • October 26, 2010, Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail (Received not Postmarked)
  • October 29, 2010, Last Day of  Early Voting
  • November 2, 2010, Election Day

 Fort Bend County will administer the City of Weston Lakes Election with early voting being conducted at the Irene Stern Community Building in Fulshear and election day voting at yet to be announced.  Official notification will be made by publication of the Election Order by the Mayor of the City of Weston Lakes.  Candidates will file with the City Secretary at the Simonton City Hall.  Campaign finance forms as required by Texas Statute will also be filed with the City Secretary.
